Use rubber gloves when handling any gold or
silver bars from a land cache. There is enough arsenic
& other chemicals still ON them from the forming process
to kill you or make you very sick. In addition ( as a
form of booby trap ) they were sometimes coated with
EXTRA poison.
Coins & other relics are not as likely to be
"poisoned", but extreme care should still be used !
BEFORE moving or lifting ANY treasure: make
SURE there is not a wire attached to it ! Lifting a
booby-trapped bar, keg, etc. will set off explosive
charges. BOOM !
After you open a cave---wait 24 hours for it
to air out. You can speed up the process by using a
generator & fans. I still advise oxygen masks, or at
the very least---dust masks. Wear long sleeves, hat,
even goggles: cover as MUCH skin surface as you
can---poisons, mold, dust, bat crap, etc---these all can
be toxic !
If you think you have an opening--drop a few
colored smoke bombs down the hole & stuff your jacket in
the hole---this "should" force the colored smoke to come
out any OTHER openings--& they might provide easier
access.
Red dye packets dropped into a water source will
show up downhill in OTHER water sources---if they are
connected ( underground, etc. )
CAREFUL of any old ladders---not only might they
be unsafe, but they can be wired ( booby-trapped ! ),
also. Usually the 7th step.
Never descend a tunnel or pit that has ANY
over-hanging rocks that be be tripped & seal you in.
Careful in moving smaller rocks that have Larger
rocks Higher than them. Again---this might be a trap.
Just an idea: pretend like YOU put the cache
there & think like a KILLER---how might YOU protect YOUR
stuff ?
Play Safe & take things SLOW---so you will live
to enjoy your treasure !

will have NO utilities, water, etc. Send me YOUR
ideas & I'll compose a MASTER LIST & email you back
a copy---to the ones that participate in this little
